Our Sukkah Visit

Today we visited the Sukkah that's outside our classroom.

Peretz leads the way, "My Tutty built that Sukkah!" he says proudly.

We find all the walls of the Sukkah

Peretz and Yakir see if they can reach the windows.

Sara shows us one of the doors.

Sara, Yakir and Peretz point to the Schach.

Such a handsome Sukkah!

Yom Kippur 101

At our circle time we had a look at some Yom Kippur items:

Nechama Leiba tries on a 'Kittel' that Aba wears in Shul.

Peretz looks at the words inside the Machzor

Ella uses her finger to point to the words.

Chaya holds the Machzor, and David looks on with delight.

Oh My Goop!

On Friday, we made goop.

An experiment with glue and starch, we weren't sure how it was going to turn out.

Eden and Chayale are intrigued by the new texture.

Peretz pulls the goop to see if it stretches.

It stretched into a bridge for Yakir's train.

Yakir stretches his goop and says, "rainbow!"

Yakir stretches it more...

And even more!

Eden stamps with a round lid.

David breaks the goop into lots of small pieces.

Nechama Leiba has made something in her pot.

Honey Cake Bake

Today we made gluten free honey cake!

The children sit around the table interested in all the ingredients.
Note the various bags of gluten free flour ;)

Sara holds the mixer

Morah Sarah pours in the sugar.  The children are checking to see how it lands in the bowl.
We tasted the sugar and understand it is sweet, for a sweet year!

Ella mixes the ingredients together.  Everyone has a turn to add their love.

We hope you enjoy!

Full of Beans

The sensory tub was full full of beans today!

The children pull up chairs and make themselves comfortable.

The children use small scoops using focus and a steady hand.

Chayale shakes the beans out of the bowl and watches as they jump out.

Shir and Nechama Leiba scoop the beans out into the bowls.

Tzedaka Fun

As part of our Yom Kippur learning, I brought in Tzedaka boxes and plastic coins.
The children found this opportunity very appealing:

All very engrossed in the activity.

Peretz and Nechama Leiba share a bowl of coins.

Eden and Ella take turns putting the coins in the Tzedaka box.

Nechama Leiba and Peretz are focused on the job at hand.

Gabey masters dropping the coin through the slot.

Leah figures out a way to get the coins in the box more quickly.
She takes off the lid and pours them in!

David is pouring the coins back into the Box.

Peretz drops the coins through the lid and watches them fall to the ground.
"They plop on the ground," he observes.

Shabbat Celebration

Every Friday we have a Shabbat celebration.

We knock on our Shabbat box to see what's inside...

Ella and Gabey are curious about what's inside the box.

Nechama Leiba finds the kiddush cup.

Peretz is setting out the Challah cover.

After the table is set we come sit around to welcome the Shabbat.

Morah Sarah lights the Shabbat candles.

We all cover our eyes and say the Bracha.

Then we sing our favorite Shabbat songs.

Shabbat Shalom!
