At the library in the classroom, the book Pumpkin Pumpkin was being read to the Yeladim. The book is about Jamie planting a pumpkin seed and the stages of the growth of a pumpkin plant.
Zalman brought over the pumpkin from the squash basket.
Hilary saw Zalman bring the pumpkin and went to bring a squash from the basket. Peretz did the same.
The Yeladim were wondering what is inside the pumpkin.
Teacher: "Do you think our pumpkin has seeds in it."
Zalman: "No, only apples have seeds."
The Yeladim asked to open the squash. They were very excited as
they brought the squash over to the table. The teacher cut the pumpkin open.
Yeladim: "Seeds, seeds."
"A lot of seeds."
The Yeladim began to pick the seeds out of the pumpkin.
The Yeladim asked to open the squash.
They removed the seeds from the squash.
The Yeladim wanted to eat the pumpkin and the squash.
It was too hard.
The teacher asked the Yeladim if they'd like to cook
the squash.
"Let's put it in the oven" they said.
The Yeladim brought the squash to the kitchen and put them on a tray.
Later, the squash was brought to the classroom.
It was very hot.
The Yeladim tasted the squash.
Yeladim: "More, more pumpkin please"
Everyday at snack time, the teacher cuts open the fruit with the Yeladim.
They love to see the inside of the fruit and removing the seeds. Today, they learned that squash have seeds too. The teacher will provide more opportunities
for the Yeladim to further explore seeds.
