Counting Seeds

Benjamin counted with seeds.

Planting

A planting activity was brought in to introduce the Yeladim to planting. The put their seed- lima bean on a paper towel and sprayed it with lots of water. 

They enjoyed the spraying and found lots of other things to spray. A great water activity for a hot day and a great way to strengthen their fine motor skills. 

The Yeladim put the social skills which were practiced at Friendship Time to good use.
They only sprayed their friends once they asked them if they'd like to be sprayed and if their friend said yes.  The Yeladim know how to listen and respect their friends.




While playing outside, the Yeladim spotted a bumble bee flying by.

Peretz: Yeah, yeah right there!
Benjamin: He's trying to get my head
Hilary: Bug
Benjamin: Where did that bee go?
Peretz: Wow! What happened? Where is he?
Hilary: Bee! Bee back

The Yeladim will keep watering and observing the seeds. Insect related activities will be brought in
to broaden the Yeladim's knowledge of insects.

Seed Collage

Peretz used glue to collage seeds.

Seed Investigation

Hilary used tweezers to remove the seeds from the sunflower.

Spring Impressionist Paintings

This week the Yeladim observed blossoms on  trees and bushes. To enrich and deepen their observations of spring, images of two of Monet's paintings were brought in to the classroom.

Here are some of the Yeladim's comments about the art pieces.

Benjamin: I see plants

Zalman: It's a garden, where's the people?

Benjamin: I see pink

Peretz: Red

Hilary: Red and pink

The Yeladim chose colors that they saw in the paintings and created their own master pieces.
