A find in the Acorns

The Yeladim were casually playing with play dough and putting the acorns we collected on our nature walk into the dough to make prints.
then one fell and cracked open.

There were two worms inside!

"Just put it back inside and close it!" Zev said. Some Yeladim thought it was cool but apparently Zev didn't!

Then we opened another acorn that looked whole and we think there is a nut inside! Stay tuned the Yeladim will be researching on this topic.

Book of "Good Choices" - Friendship Time

The Morahs have been photo documenting through out the last couple of weeks Yeladim who have been making good choices. (Refer back to Rosh Hashana Big Idea)

Every time we add a page we read it aloud to all the Yeladim so the ones who made the right choices can be praised and also act as role models for other Yeladim to learn from.
.Shmuli cleaned up the toys as soon as Morah said it was time to clean up.
Zev gave a turn to another Yeled.

Binyamin gave a toy to his baby brother.

Evaluating each child where they are up to as far as knowing their colors

We went through:
Sorting
Identifying
Labeling
We feel lucky to have our " non regimented" learning style so each child in our school can have an education fit to perfectly suite their individual needs.

Baby topic continues...

A baby came to visit the Yeladim today so they could make some live observations. Binyamin said, "Put toy in his mouth!" And Zev noted that his baby does that too. Although his baby is bigger.
The Yeladim saw that the baby has only two teeth! So the Yeladim felt around their mouths and realized they have a lot more teeth! (They tried counting but couldn't find a high enough number to count all their teeth!)

To get a real sense of his size compared to the Yeladim, we traced the baby and then Binyamin and all the Yeladim clearly saw who was bigger.... They are waaay bigger!

Babies

Since Shmuli has a new baby sister there has been a lot of conversation about babies in our classroom. For the in depth documentation we look forward to sharing with parents at our parent orientation but for now, here are some tid bits about what is going on in the class.
Dina and David also had a new baby and modeled to the Yeladim different ways they can act toward their baby. The Yeladim had really good ideas as well to help David and Dina act kind and safe with their new baby sister. This is something we are working on now since it is relevant to all the Yeladim in our class. Please take note of when your child is extra sensitive to their baby or helps their baby etc and send in a note with your child so we can all collaboratively talk about the healthy kind ways we can interact with babies! Pictures of this and videos are welcome too!

A find on the Nature walk

Nature watching is truly amazing. No explanation was needed about how or why there were all these leaves on the ground. There were so many trees that at any given time there were hundreds of leaves just randomly falling.
We sang:
TTTO:  London bridge is falling down
Our fall song:
The Leaves are falling to the ground
Red and orange,
Yellow and brown
watch them twirl again and again
Thank you Hashem for the fall season

The Yeladim collected beautiful leaves of all shapes, sizes and colors, acorns and pine cones, some cool insects and even a hole in a tree that the Yeladim suspect is the house of a squirrel.

Vegetables of the Season - October 1

The Yeladim studied the squash.
How do they each feel? Are they bumpy or smooth?
What are their colors?

Then Zev lifted the pumpkin. "It's heavy!"

The Yeladim now all tried lifting them and testing the weights of each one.

Conclusion: The Yeladim assembled the squash in weight order.
