Let's see what will happen...

The Yeladim have had many experiences of bringing ice and snow into our warm classroom and watching it melt. Today, the Yeladim chose an item from around the classroom to place in the muffin pan  and filled it with water. The muffin pan was placed outside. The Yeladim hypothesized that it will change colors.  

More Ice Play

The Yeladim observed the frozen items that were brought in to school, noticing the water from the melted ice.

The Yeladim put some of ice cubes in the plant. Will it be there tomorrow? 

Friendship Time

Friendship Time begins with a song where the Donny and Dina puppets come 

to greet all our friends and shake their hands. 



Donny was doing something that Dina did not like. The Yeladim came up with ideas of what Dina can tell Donny. They said "She can say "No!"
and "I don't like that." 

Ice Paintings

The Yeladim discussed what happened when when they brought ice and snow into the classroom.

After the discussion, the Yeladim painted with colored ice.
 

What was happening as they painted?

There was water from the ice!

Another fun way to observe the melting process. 

Icicles

Outside, the Yeladim noticed icicles. They wanted to bring them inside. They were placed in a bowl so the Yeladim can observe the icicles. 

Benjamin: "Where did my ice go?"

Zalman: "It disappeared."

Peretz: "Ice, melted."

Exploring Ice

Two sizes of ice cubes and a variety of containers were set our in the sensory table to further develop the Yeladim's experience with melting. 

The Yeladim came over to play.

Zalman: "Icy"

Peretz: "Snow"

Benjamin: "I'm scooping it.
This one does not fit in the scooper because it's not little. It's big"



They fitted the small ice cubes into the mouth of the container. 

They shook the container with ice cubes. 

They even tasted it.

Peretz: "Yum. It's yum."

Teacher: "Where did the water come from?"

Zalman: " The ice."

The Yeladim not only gained another experience with melting, they explored and experimented with ice in many creative ways.
